December 12, 2024 – Limon Indanza, Ecuador – Lowell Mineral Exploration Ecuador S.A. ("Lowell" or the "Company"), a subsidiary of Solaris Resources Inc. ("Solaris"), is pleased to announce the signing of an Inter-Institutional Framework Agreement ("Agreement") with the Municipal Decentralized Autonomous Government of Limón Indanza (GAD). This agreement, signed within the framework of the solemn session for the 74th anniversary of cantonization, establishes a strategic alliance to promote joint work in key areas for the social, economic and environmental development of the canton.
Mr. Ricardo Obando, Vice President, Community and Government Affairs of Solaris, commented, "This Agreement is a clear sign of our intention to actively contribute to the progress of Limón Indanza, ensuring that the benefits of the Warintza Project translate into improvements for the people of the canton. Through this collaboration, we seek to promote economic growth and collaborate with sustainable and responsible development that positively impacts the future generations of Limón Indanza. Our commitment is to work hand in hand with the community, not only as a company that operates in the region, but as a good neighbor."
Mr. Antonio Castillo, Mayor of Limón Indanza, commented, "Lowell is a key player in Limón Indanza, so it is critical that as a Municipality, we establish strategic relationships with the company to benefit the majority of our population. The Company will be present in the region for, at least, the next 30 to 40 years, so it is crucial to sit down with them, to develop a life plan for the canton, that is, to define how we envision and want our development in the coming years."
The Agreement includes several topics of collaboration:
- Public works and infrastructure, for the improvement of the well-being of the population of Limón Indanza.
- Security, through projects that promote a safe and healthy environment for the inhabitants of the canton.
- Productivity, improvement of labor and technical skills for the inhabitants of the canton, with the aim of generating employment and strengthening local employability.
- Communication and sports initiatives that contribute to improving the quality of life.
- Environmental sustainability within the framework of the activities of the Warintza Project, with a focus on respect and care for the natural environment.
As part of this Agreement, the start of two projects was announced, with one project related to infrastructure works for the improvement and safety of traffic on the Akas River and a second project for citizen security that will benefit the more than 10,000 inhabitants of the canton.
The Agreement signed between Lowell and GAD, valid for three years, reflects the Company's commitment to work in a transparent, responsible and sustainable manner with the community, promoting balanced and beneficial development for all, and establishes a common work agenda, led by an inter-institutional committee, made up of three GAD officials and three Lowell delegates to implement projects that respond to the needs of the canton and strengthen long-term cooperation.
